Messy Bun Beanie Crochet Pattern

This is a gorgeous crochet hat that will be perfect for fall, mild winter or Spring. The crochet pattern includes an option for a Messy bun hat as well as a Slouchy. Double the fun, right? I designed this hat with Craftsy's Sprightly yarn and absolutely loved the results. It had the right amount of drape and thickness for this project and I plan to use it more in my future projects.

* The pattern includes 4 sizes, Toddler, Child, Preteen-Adult Small, Adult Medium/Large

* The pattern gives you 2 options, one to make a Messy Bun Beanie and another to make a Slouchy Hat.

* The pattern is written in Standard American Terms.

*The pattern uses worsted weight yarn ( size 4 medium). I used Sprightly Acrylic Wool Worsted Yarn in color Charcoal Heather.

Heidi Hooded Scarf, Free Crochet Pattern

Pin it for later: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/51087777007717960/

I hope you will enjoy working on this hooded scarf crochet pattern and it will keep you warm in the coming cold months. This Scarfie yarn was in my stash since last winter. I regretted buying it and wondered what I would make with it. I was convinced I made a bad choice until I actually started making the hood for this scarf. It was a little hard to see my stitches in the black parts but other than that the yarn was nice to work with, and I love the look of single ply yarns. I was surprised to see that this yarn was labeled Bulky weight. I would consider it close to a worsted weight yarn in thickness. What do you think of this yarn?

How to Crochet a Quick Twist Headband or Earwarmer, A Free Crochet Pattern

Crochet Ear Warmer Pattern With a Twist

Free Crochet Headband Pattern

Pin it for later: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/51087777007588987/

This Twist ear warmer crochet pattern uses the same extended single crochet stitch used for my Brooklyn mittens and boot cuffs. I eliminated the chains in between to make a denser fabric for more warmth. This works up in less than one hour and would make a great item for last minute gifts or craft fairs. I used my favorite yarn, Lionbrand Wool Ease for the samples. Any light worsted weight yarn should work. I hope you like the pattern.

How to Finish Your Work in the Round With an Invisible Join

As we crochet more, we all learn new techniques to add finishing touches to our work. Use this quick tip to finish your work in the round and you won't be able to tell where your round ended. A video is also provided at the end of the blog post. Do you have any crochet tips or tricks up your sleeve? Please share them in the comments below.

Cut the yarn and pull the yarn tail out, thread a yarn needle with the tail and insert it under the first sc.

Then insert it into the first st, pull the yarn tail until you have a fake stitch which is the same size as the rest of your stitches.

Your fake stitch will look just like any other stitch of the round ( shown in blue). You can now go ahead and weave in that tail.

Tulip Garden Beanie Crochet Pattern

Textured Beanie Hat Crochet Pattern

Textured Hat Crochet Pattern

This is another one of my patterns in the Puff Stitch Crochet Hats series. I love textured hats and this one is no different. Puff stitches interspersed with front post stitches make these lovely hats unique. I used Lionbrand Wool Ease for the samples, but you can substitute it with any light worsted weight yarn. The hat has a fair amount of elasticity and the design becomes more prominent once you wear the hat on your head.

When I asked my blog readers to help me name this hat, the things they saw in the design were simply mind-boggling. Praying hands, mom's hugs, migrating birds, and Tulip garden are some of them that really stood out. I picked the name Tulip Garden Beanie as it has a nice ring to it and sounds cheerful. A big thank you to Jason Samra Adams for suggesting this beautiful name.

*The pattern is written in standard American terms.

*Any light worsted weight yarn ( size 4 medium) can be used. Lionbrand Wool Ease was used for gauge. Colors used were Fisherman, Seaspray and Grey Heather.

* Sizes include Toddler, Child, Preteen to Small Adult and Large Adult.

Hook I (5.5 mm) for Adult and Toddler sizes. Child size is worked using an H (5mm) hook.

* One fur pom pom. I used a 3 ½ inch one for the child and adult sizes. Toddler size might need a 3 inch pom pom. You can find a free tutorial to make a pom pom for less than a dollar here: Fur Pom Pom Tutorial

* Yarn needle to weave in the tails.

Payment can be made securely through PayPal using your credit card or PayPal account, see FAQ for details. Once the payment is made, the pattern will be emailed to you in 24 hours.
